Who we are
floridamanornot.com is operated by WASD s. r. o., Kríková 8695/3, 821 07 Bratislava, Slovakia (the "operator"). This page explains what data the site handles and why.
What we do not do
- No user accounts, no registration, no e-mail collection.
- No cookies are set by the site itself.
Advertising (Google AdSense)
The site shows ads served by Google AdSense. Google and its certified partners may use cookies and similar technologies to serve and measure ads; in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland this only happens after you give consent in the message shown on your first visit, and you can change your choice at any time via the "Privacy settings" link in the footer. With consent, Google may use your browsing on this and other sites to personalise ads; without it, ads are still shown but are not personalised. How Google uses data when you use partner sites: policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. Opt out of personalised advertising at adssettings.google.com. Our authorised sellers are listed in /ads.txt.
What stays in your browser
To make the game work without accounts, the site stores a few values in your browser's local storage and session storage: your progress and result for the current day, day streak, best endless streak, colour theme preference, the current set of headlines, and a randomly generated anonymous identifier. This data never leaves your browser except as described below, is not visible to us, and you can delete it at any time by clearing the site data in your browser.
What reaches our servers
Each page view sends a tiny anonymous "hit" to our own API: the page type, the referring site's domain (if any) and a flag saying whether this is your first visit of the day (kept in your browser's local storage). It contains no identifier and is only used for aggregate counts of page views and daily visitors.
When you answer a round, your browser sends the pair identifier, your choice (A or B) and the anonymous identifier to our API. The identifier is used for one thing only: to count each answer once per pair per day so the "% of players got this right" statistic cannot be inflated. The record of that count is deleted automatically after two days. We do not link the identifier to you, and it is not combined with any other data.
Like every website, our hosting provider (Amazon Web Services, EU region and its global content delivery network) records standard technical logs of requests — IP address, time, requested page, browser type. We keep these logs for up to 30 days for security, abuse prevention and troubleshooting. They are not used for profiling.
Third-party services
- Google Fonts — the fonts used on the site are loaded from Google's servers; Google receives your IP address as part of that request. See Google's privacy policy.
- Amazon Web Services — hosting, content delivery and the API run on AWS infrastructure in the European Union (the CDN has edge locations worldwide).
- Linked articles — clicking a source link takes you to a third-party news site with its own policies.
Legal basis and your rights (EU/UK)
Processing of the technical logs and the anonymous answer counter is based on our legitimate interest in operating a secure, reliable and fair game (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Because we hold no identifying information about you, we generally cannot look up or delete "your" data on request; you can remove everything stored locally by clearing your browser's site data. You have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
Children
The site is intended for a general audience and does not knowingly collect any personal data from anyone, including children.
Changes
We will update this page when anything about data handling changes and show the date of the last revision at the top.
