Changelog
The game is built and maintained by WASD s. r. o., the publisher named on the contact page, and it is updated regularly — the list below covers every change since launch. Found a bug, or want to suggest something? Report it via the contact page.
19 September 2026
- Added the contact page: who runs the game, the e-mail address, and how corrections and removals work.
- Added a complete how to play guide and this changelog.
- Added Florida Man by date: one page per calendar day with the verified headlines published on that date (the "birthday challenge"), only for days with at least three headlines, plus a guide to the challenge.
- Headline safety tightened: a hard blocklist now rejects sexual or violent wording before the AI review, the AI review itself got stricter, and a removal of a real headline also retires every game pair built on it. Four headlines were removed in a sweep.
- Duplicate stories: the same story reported by several outlets is now detected and kept once; 30 duplicates were merged, leaving 334 unique real headlines.
18 September 2026
- The home page now explains the game, and four new guides cover the Florida Man meme, how to spot fake headlines, how headlines are verified and the library statistics.
- The headline library went public: every real headline in the game, sorted by topic, with a link to its source — including live counts (368 approved headlines, 46 % rejected by the safety review).
- Publisher attribution added across the site, so it is clear who builds and owns the game.
- Search-engine work: real 404 pages, one heading per page, structured data for articles and FAQs, cleaned-up sitemaps, and verification in Google Search Console with the sitemap submitted.
- Security and speed: a Content Security Policy header now protects every page, and fonts are served from our own servers, so no request leaves the site for fonts.
- The home screen is now rendered before scripts load: no layout shift, better link contrast and a faster first paint (Lighthouse mobile performance 90, accessibility 100).
- Guide pages received illustrations and share images.
- Headline quality: "Top ten Florida Man" listicles and articles about the meme itself are now filtered out before review; 12 such items were rejected in production.
17 September 2026
- The first complete version shipped: the daily challenge (five pairs, new set at 00:00 UTC) and endless mode, with difficulty tuning built in — too-easy pairs are retired and each day's five pairs are chosen from the 40–75 % difficulty band.
- The about, FAQ, privacy and terms pages went live, and the archive lists every past daily set with answers and sources.
- If a daily set changes after you loaded it, the game now recovers automatically and reloads.
- Pairs rotate after 100 answers, so a real headline is matched with a fake it has never been shown with.
- Advertising groundwork: an opt-in Google AdSense setup with a consent message and ads.txt. Ads stay switched off until the site is approved.
- Cookieless analytics: a first-party beacon counts page views and daily visitors without cookies or accounts.
- The game got social accounts: X posts each day's teaser and reveal, and a Facebook page posts the day's image.
- Production monitoring: a dashboard and alarms watch the pipeline, alerting by e-mail if a daily set is missing or the API starts returning errors.
How updates are shipped
Every change goes through automated checks in GitHub Actions — code style, the test suite, Terraform validation and a page-weight budget — deploys to the development environment on push, and reaches production through a manual deploy run. Two scheduled jobs keep the game fresh every day: the new daily set is built at 00:00 UTC, and new headlines are collected, reviewed and turned into fakes at 03:00 UTC.
